"The Hare and the Pineapple"
comedy, farce

If you were an 8th-grade New York State public school student in the spring of 2012, like myself, then a defining moment in your academic career was likley the 2012 standardized English Language Assessment. This is because of one particular reading passage that was so absurd, with questions so controversial, that it was covered on the news, written about in the New York Times, and even featured on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Every student remembers the chaos in the hallways - mere minutes after the exam - as their peers vehemently argued over sentient pineapples and scheming forest animals. This sequence is an adaptation of that story, originally written by Daniel Pinkwater.
